Bees too, but in this case the whole bee colony, because the queen in this case doe not such a great work as a bumblebee queen. This has the following reason: at the bumblebee's only the queens overwinter. That means as much as that they let their colony wreck and flee just after they've mated with the drones in autumn. Okay, that's not admirable. There the bees are better, at their's the whole colony survives winter and the small ones don't have to die. But still! The bumblebee queens start from scratch after winter. You know that, in spring only really fat bumblebee fly around, these are the queens. And they have to start over alone. They lay eggs, wherever they can. They lay the eggs in earth holes, -there, where they've overwintered- therefore the ones I'm talking about are called great earth bumblebees. And each one creates a new, own colony.
All bumblebees in this colony descend from the queen. And she wangled that all on her own. Okay, that sounds a bit crackbrained. But bee queens get their colony just as a heritage somehow. They eclose and then take their mother half the colony away. And they don't do much therefore. The bumblebee queens do that since ever, for them it has no meaning. Every year bumblebee found new colonies. But it's still an amazing achievement of them. A small bumblebee queen before, afterwards a whole colony. Cheers on the Great Earth Bumblebees!
